When in the State of Ihram

Anas b. Mālik (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) narrated: “The Prophet ﷺ performed Hajj on an old saddle, wearing a cloak that was worth four Dirham or less. Then he said: ‘O Allah, a Hajj in which there is no showing off nor reputation sought.’” (Ibn Mājah 2890)

Talbiyah in hajj & ʿUmrah

ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) narrates that the talbiyah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was [the above]. (Bukhārī 1549)

When Reaching the al-hajar al-Aswad (Black Stone)

Ibn ʿAbbās (radiy Allāhū ʿanhumā) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Ṭawāf (of the Kaʿbah) riding a camel (at that time the Prophet ﷺ had a foot injury). Whenever he came to the Corner (where the Black Stone is located), he would point out towards it with a thing in his hand and say [the above]. (Bukhārī 1632)

Between the al-Rukn al-Yamani (Yemeni Corner) & al-hajar al-Aswad (Black Stone)

ʿAbdullāh ibn as-Sā’ib (radiy Allāhū ʿanhu) narrated: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say [the above] between the two corners (Rukn al-Yamānī and Ḥajar al-Aswad).” (Abū Dāwūd 1892)

At Maqam Ibrahim (Station of Ibrahim)

Jābir (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) said: “…Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the Maqām (Ibrahim) and said [the above]. He raised his voice so the people heard him and prayed two rakʿah’s with the Maqām between him and the Kaʿbah. In the first rakʿah, he recited Sūrah al-Ikhlās, and in the second rak’ah, he recited Sūrah al-Kāfirūn.” (Nasā’ī 3929)

When Beginning the Sa’i at safa
Each Time on safa & Marwah

Jābir (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to Ṣafā and Marwa and recited [the above]. He began with Ṣafā and climbed it until he could see the Kaʿbah, then he turned to face the qiblah and proclaimed the Oneness of Allah and magnified Him.” (Muslim 1218)

Between safa & Marwa

ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) and ʿAbdullah b. ʿUmar (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) would both say [the above] during the walking between Ṣafā and Marwa. (Ṭabarānī in al-Duʿā’ 870)

On the Day of ʿArafah

Ibn ‘Amr (radiy Allāhū ‘anhumā) narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best duʿā’ is the duʿā’ of the day of ʿArafah. The best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is [the above].” (Tirmidhī 3585)

On Every Throw at the Jamarat

Al-Zuhrī (raḥimahullāh) narrated: “Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stoned the Jamarah (pillar) near Mina Mosque, he would throw seven small pebbles and say takbīr on each pebble. Then he would go ahead and stand facing the qiblah with his hands raised, supplicating (to Allah). He would stand for a long period. Then he would come to the second Jamarah (al-Wusṭā) and stone it with seven small pebbles, reciting takbīr on each pebble. Then he would stand facing the qiblah with his hands raised, supplicating (to Allah). Then he would come to the Jamarah (al ʿaqabah) and throw seven small pebbles, reciting takbīr on each pebble. He would then leave and not stay by it (to supplicate).

Al- Zuhrī (raḥimahullāh) narrated: “I heard Sālim b. ʿAbdullāh saying the same that his father said on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ. (Bukhārī 1753)
